Jumbo underground tunnel boring drilling rig machine a sophisticated rotary drilling mechanism to excavate tunnels through various geological formations. The system utilizes a massive rotating cutter head equipped with disc cutters or roller bits, powered by high-torque hydraulic motors.
As the cutter head rotates at high efficiency drilling speed , its array of hardened steel or tungsten-carbide teeth systematically fracture the rock strata while synchronized thrust cylinders maintain forward propulsion.
During operation, the full-face drilling apparatus simultaneously performs cutting, material removal, and temporary ground support installation. An integrated slurry circulation system or earth pressure balance mechanism manages debris removal while maintaining face stability. Computer-guided laser alignment ensures precision boring within ±10mm tolerance, with real-time monitoring of torque, thrust pressure, and advance rate adapting to changing ground conditions. Continuous conveyor systems or muck cars transport excavated material to the surface, while precast concrete segments are automatically erected to form the tunnel lining immediately behind the cutting shield. significantly reducing surface disruption compared to conventional drill-and-blast methods.
